Prabowo to Pay State Visits to the UK and Switzerland in Early 2026

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has begun a series of foreign visits at the beginning of 2026. He departed for London, England, from the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, East Jakarta, on Sunday, 18 January 2026.

Several state officials were present to see off Prabowo. Among them were Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Deputy House Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, and the Indonesian National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

The Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya announced Prabowo's departure through a post on his official Instagram account.

According to Teddy, Prabowo will begin his official visit with a meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and King Charles III. After leaving England, Prabowo will continue his visit to Switzerland.

"On this Sunday afternoon, 18 January 2026, President Prabowo Subianto departed for England and Switzerland to attend several meetings," wrote Teddy in the caption on the @sekretariat.kabinet Instagram account on Sunday.

Before departing for England, Prabowo met Dasco

Two photos shared by Teddy showed Prabowo talking to Dasco. Prabowo sat next to the parliamentary leader and read a document. "At Halim, President Prabowo held a meeting with the Deputy House Speaker, Professor Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, regarding the latest information developments before flying to London," said Teddy.

Prabowo will meet with the UK PM and King Charles III

Teddy explained Prabowo's activities in England. According to Teddy, Prabowo is scheduled to meet with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer in London. "To discuss agreements on several strategic cooperation, including in the fields of economy and maritime," he said.

However, he did not elaborate on the specific agreements that Prabowo and Starmer plan to discuss.

Next, the head of state will meet with King Charles III. One of the agendas is related to the conservation of nature and the environment, as well as elephant conservation. Teddy said that several other world philanthropic figures would also be in the audience.

Prabowo scheduled to speak at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland

Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Switzerland. "In Davos, Switzerland, the Head of State will deliver a keynote speech at the World Economic Forum," said Teddy.

According to the official World Economic Forum website, Prabowo's special address is scheduled to take place on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM local time. Prabowo is scheduled to share the stage with Borge Brende, the President and Chief Executive Officer of the World Economic Forum, at the event.

The event is expected to be attended by 61 heads of state and government, as well as over 1,000 participants. "President Prabowo will also have strategic dialogues with the CEOs of leading foreign companies," said Teddy.
