TEMPO.CO, Jakarta Several areas and roads in Jakarta were once again submerged in floodwaters on Sunday morning, January 18, 2026. The current cause of the flooding is persistent rain from Saturday evening to Sunday morning.

The extreme rainfall also caused the water level to continue rising until this report was written around midday. As cited from the Flood Post of Jakarta's Water Resources Department (SDA), the Danger status was reported from the Pluit Water Pumping House for the water level of Pluit Reservoir. The same goes for the Kali Asin Water Pumping House for observations in Kali Angke.

Several others reported a Caution status, such as Marina Ancol Water Gate and Pasar Ikan Water Pumping House for observations of the sea water level. The same goes for the Ancol Flushing Water Gate on the Ciliwung stream and the Cengkareng Drain Water Gate.

The Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency reported that as of 11:15 WIB, floods hit Ancol and West Pademangan in North Jakarta; Kedaung Kali Angke, Tegal Alur, and Jelambar in West Jakarta; and Rawa Terate in East Jakarta.

At least 29 residents evacuated to Tegal Alur due to the 30-40 centimeter flood. They are currently staying at the Alur Anggrek RPTRA temporarily. The flood-affected area covers 2.21 square kilometers out of Jakarta's 661.5 square kilometers. "The number of affected neighborhoods, 40 neighborhoods out of 30,544 neighborhoods in Jakarta," wrote the Jakarta BPBD on its official website.
