TEMPO.CO, JakartaBYD already has four models of electric cars or EVs (Electric Vehicles) offered to Indonesian consumers, namely Dolphin, Atto 3, Seal and M6. In fact, the manufacturer is now also bringing in the Denza sub-brand, targeting the premium class in early 2025.

Not satisfied with that, BYD seems to still have one more electric car that has the potential to be brought to Indonesia at an affordable price, namely Seagull. The model is known to have been registered in Indonesia using the name Dolphin Mini.

Please note, brand registration is not a guarantee that the model will be present in the near future. This can be done by car manufacturers for study or development purposes.

Recorded on the Intellectual Property Database (PDKI) page, Dolphin Mini is registered by BYD Company Limited.

In its home country, the BYD Dolphin Mini is sold for 10,000 USD or equivalent to Rp161.5 million, claimed to be the cheapest and best-selling electric car in China. While in Malaysia, the Dolphin Mini is priced at around RM 99,900, around Rp367.7 million.

However, if it takes advantage of the government's electric car incentives and is assembled locally, the price has the potential to be more competitive and could be another option for consumers who want a small EV with a contemporary design.

The BYD Dolphin Mini itself is smaller than the Dolphin currently marketed in Indonesia. The dimensions of the length, width and height of the car are 3,780 mm x 1,715 mm x 1,580 mm.

In terms of design, the BYD Dolphin Mini has a different identity from its previous model. The most obvious is the size of the headlight which is much smaller and minimalist, while at the back there is a long LED bar.

Regarding the engine, the BYD Dolphin Mini uses a 30 kWh Blade Battery to support a journey of 300 km (NEDC) on a single charge. Its power is claimed to reach 73 hp and peak torque of 135 Nm.

If presented to Indonesia, this electric car is predicted to be a competitor to the Wuling Air ev (starting at Rp179.1 million). Moreover, the configuration is not much different, with a battery capacity of 17.3 kWh to 26.7 kWh, and a range of 200 km-300 km.
