TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto launched the project of food warehouses and Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG/kitchen) operated by the Indonesian National Police (Polri). Construction will begin on 10 Polri Food Security Warehouses and 166 SPPGs are already operational.
Prabowo expressed his appreciation to the government, Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and the police, who supported various programs in the field of food and nutrition fulfillment for the community. "They are the key, they are our team, my team who together are working hard to lead this country," he said in a written statement from the Presidential Secretariat on Saturday, May 16, 2026.
The Gerindra Party chair inaugurated the construction of 10 units of Polri Food Security Warehouse, type 654, each with a storage capacity of up to 1,000 tons.
These warehouses are spread across several regions, namely West Sumatra, Riau, two units in South Sumatra, Bengkulu, Banten, West Kalimantan, two units in Southeast Sulawesi, and North Maluku.
In addition to constructing food warehouses, the Polri launched 166 SPPGs in various regions of Indonesia to support the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program. The operation of MBG public kitchens is spread across several regional police offices, including 39 units in the Banten Regional Police, 17 units in the North Sumatra Regional Police, 16 units in the Central Java Regional Police, 14 units in the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, and 8 units in the MBG Task Force.
The inauguration of Polri Food Security Warehouses and Polri SPPGs took place in Tuban, East Java. Prabowo delivered a speech at the event addressing the important role of the police in national food security.
Previously, Prabowo explained why the military and police are involved in food-related government programs. The president claimed that TNI and the police are part of the people.
The Head of State conveyed this when delivering a speech at the inauguration ceremony and groundbreaking for Polri SPPG and the inauguration of the Food security Warehouse in the Palmerah Police Sector, West Jakarta. In front of state officials and senior police officers, Prabowo responded to criticism from experts and observers in foreign media.
