Cristiano Ronaldo Inks New Deal with Saudi Club Al Nassr

5 hours ago 9

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has officially extended his contract with the Saudi Arabian football club, Al Nassr. "Cristiano Ronaldo is staying at @AlNassrFC until 2027," the Saudi Arabian club wrote on its X account on Thursday.

The 40-year-old player stated that he wants to continue making history with Al Nassr. "A new chapter begins. Same passion, same dream. Let's make history together," Ronaldo said through his Instagram account.

Since joining Al Nassr in December 2022, Ronaldo has scored 103 goals in 119 matches in all competitions, including 38 goals in the 2024/25 season, which led to him winning the Saudi Pro League Golden Boot for the second time.

However, winning the league remains the primary target, after Al Nassr finished in second place last season, behind Al Hilal.

Previously, Ronaldo was rumored to seek new challenges, including trying to play in the Club World Cup with the Brazilian team. However, it did not materialize.

The new deal reaffirms Ronaldo's ambition to continue competing at the highest level, aiming for 1,000 career goals. With 58 goals remaining, he's also preparing for the 2026 World Cup with the Portuguese national team.

The news comes amidst the coaching transition at Al Nassr, with a new coach reportedly set to be announced soon to replace Stefano Pioli.
