TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Danantara Indonesia Investment Management Agency for Sustainable Energy will announce the results of the first stage of the waste-to-energy project auction. The Lead of Waste to Energy at Danantara Indonesia, Fadli Rahman, stated that the project will be built in areas between Bogor City and Bogor Regency, Bekasi City and Bekasi Regency, Yogyakarta, and Denpasar, which are the most prepared locations.
Currently, 24 foreign companies from China, Japan, and France have been selected as developers and Managers of the waste-to-energy project. They have passed the selection process conducted by Danantara, out of the previous 200 technology providers (Daftar Penyedia Teknologi - DPT).
Fadli mentioned that the selected companies will form a consortium with local companies as partners. The tender winner will choose the local entities involved in project development. A consortium can consist of companies with varying numbers of members.
"The winners will make the selection, but we have to review. We have to ensure that they are truly capable, including their local companies," he said.
Fadli stated that after the tender announcement, the construction process is targeted to begin at the end of the first quarter of 2026. The project is expected to take 1.5 to 2 years to complete.
Previously, Danantara mentioned that there are 7 agglomeration areas where the waste-to-energy project will be developed. However, only 4 areas are truly prepared for the first stage.
The project requires an investment of Rp2.5 trillion to 3 trillion for one facility. The electricity generated will be sold to PT PLN (Persero) for US$0.20 per kWh. One waste-to-energy facility is estimated to help reduce waste by 1,000 tons per day.
"Once again, this is a humanitarian aspect, not just an investment aspect, not just a calculation aspect, not just a social aspect," Fadli Rahman said.
