TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Singapore court has rejected the bail application submitted by the Indonesian fugitive Thian Po Tjhin, or Paulus Tannos, as confirmed by Law Minister Supratman Andi Agtas. The information, he said, was obtained on Monday, June 16, from the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) of Singapore.
"We were informed directly by the Singaporean authority, the AGC," he said in an official statement on Tuesday, June 17, adding that this would hopefully expedite the trial process and allow the Indonesian government to process Tannos' extradition.
According to Minister Supratman, the decision was proof of commitment by the Singaporean government to the two countries' extradition deal, which marks the start of a good diplomatic relationship in law enforcement.
"Of course, we cannot intervene in Singapore's legal process," he said.
Indonesia has previously submitted an extradition request for Paulus Tannos on February 20, 2025. The Ministry of Law, said the director general of legal administration Widodo, also sent additional information through diplomatic channels on April 23, 2025.
Paulus Tannos has been included in the wanted list of Indonesia's anti-graft agency, KPK, since October 19, 2021, two months after he was named a suspect in the e-KTP corruption case. He is suspected of being involved in the manipulation of the e-KTP project tender, causing state losses of Rp2.3 trillion.
KPK accused Paulus of lobbying several officials to win the project. In doing so, he agreed to pay a 5 percent fee of the project's value. He distributed this fee to several members of the House of Representatives and officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
At that time, Paulus served as the Director of PT Sandipala Arthaputra, which was part of the winning consortium for the e-KTP project along with the State Printing Company (PNRI). The project began in 2006, when the Ministry of Home Affairs had allotted Rp6 trillion for the e-KTP project and the national Identity Number (NIK) program.
The Singaporean anti-corruption agency, Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB), arrested Paulus Tannos on January 17, 2025, upon the request of Indonesian police.
