Trump Mobile Removes T1 Phone "Made in the USA" Website Claim

7 hours ago 11

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Trump T1 Phone was announced last week with claims that the device would be entirely made in America. However, the claim was met with skepticism by many.

The US$500 T1 Phone from Trump Mobile "is a sleek, gold smartphone engineered for performance and proudly designed and built in the United States for customers who expect the best from their mobile carrier," said the Trump Organization in a press release as quoted by Ars Technica, Thursday, June 26, 2025.

However, with doubts from electronic supply chain experts regarding the feasibility of designing and building an American-made phone in a short period, the Trump Mobile website removed the claim that the phone was made in America.

The website stated that the T1 phone was designed with American values in mind, that it was "brought to life" in the U.S., and that there were American hands behind every device.

The site had previously stated, "Our MADE IN THE USA T1 phone is available for pre-order now." The phone was originally supposed to be available in August, but the date was changed to September, and now the website only states that the phone will be available later this year.

The Verge reported the removal on Thursday. "One of the phone’s main selling points was that it was to be made in America," the article said, adding that it's likely untrue.

"Sometime in the last several days, the Trump Mobile site appears to have been scrubbed of all language indicating the phone is to be made in the USA."

When contacted by Ars, a Trump Mobile spokesperson said, "The T1 phones are proudly being made in America. Speculation to the contrary is simply inaccurate. We're excited to launch the phones later this year." Trump Mobile did not explain why they removed the "Made in the USA" claim from their website.

Some experts said that the Trump phone seemed to be an updated version of the REVVL 7 Pro 5G, made by the Chinese company Wingtech. The REVVL 7 Pro 5G is sold by T-Mobile for US$250, half the price of the Trump phone.

However, it is unclear which phone is being sold by Trump Mobile. The company initially advertised a 6.78-inch display, which would be the same as the screen on the REVVL 7 Pro 5G, but the Trump Mobile website now lists a 6.25-inch screen size.
